I offer spey casting courses and spey fishing courses with one or two hands rods. As each spey casts is used for a specific situation of fishing, it is better to learn in fishing situation than on lawn or dead water. So, in my opinion, the best is to try and learn new spey casts downstream of the pool then, when you come to a point where you are able to cast, we’ll go to the spot and try the real stuff! For sure, you won’t be fully ready but at least you’ll get a chance to catch something! This chance of catching one fish will augment your concentration.
It’s your chance to learn, to fish and to scout a new river.
Equipment
You’ll choose either one hand or two hand spey casting or any choice in between.
I have many rods from different maker and of different size and weight and even switch rods, you can try any of them. I have many lines for all the standard technics from long traditional casts to skagit and multi tips lines. You can also bring your own rod but I’ll give you the opportunity to test other rods to find the best ones for your morphologym your musculature or your style. For one hand rod, any rod will fit but the slower ones will help for starting.
You must bring your waders as you absolutely need to enter the water to be able to learn spey casting. If you don’t have any, you could rent a pair at the ZEC office.
Licences
You must buy your salmon fishing licence as well as pay for your access to the river.
About access fees, you can get all the information on the river’s web site: Rivière Sainte-Marguerite
